Despite desync having always been present in EDF it's so much worse in this game that it's just embarrassing. The game does make good improvements for the most part over EDF 5, a few not so good IMO, and I'd genuinely recommend it were it not for such bad desync.

Introduced various improvements over EDF 5, yet also introduced a horrible desync issue. Will change this to positive if they ever fix it.

First thing to note is this is a sequel to EDF 5, so recommend playing that first.

Like its predecessors, EDF 6 continues to evolve the gameplay, this time not only from having more enemy variety but enemies with different mechanics. It felt like EDF 5 added new enemies that were essentially the same as those from EDF 4 but with more health, so EDF 6 is doing much better in this department with its variety. Unfortunately, it still feels like this game has the same problem as its predecessors where despite having a lot of weapons, most of them aren't worth using (at least for wing diver, feels like almost all weapons have poor killing enemies to energy consumption ratio). Would like a future EDF title to consider rebalancing them to make more weapons viable. But when considering the improvement in enemy variety along with the chaos from having even more enemies in certain missions, I think gameplay is an overall improvement.

My main problem with the game is how the story is told, particularly how it takes too long to get into the juicy part of the story which unfortunately translates into an excessive amount of missions that before long become monotonous to play. Sure it has the most missions out of the past three EDF entries, but too much of it feels like ground hog day. I feel like the developers could've maintained the overall theme and major plot points without the need for so many repetitive missions.

This last part made the game feel like a slog to get through, so despite liking the gameplay in individual missions more, I overall prefer EDF 4 and EDF 5.
