If you have good memories of Pocky and Rocky this is going to be just what you're looking for. I was a little confused if it was a remaster but it is a completely new game, but very much plays homage to the original in graphics music and sound effects. If you have a friend please note that you need to enter a code for multiplayer if you don't want to beat the game single player first:

From the title screen, go to the main menu.
Press the following directional inputs on the D-Pad:
Left, Left, Left, Left
Right, Right, Right, Right
Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
The auto-save icon will appear in the lower-right corner of the screen and Free Mode will become available.
