As someone who plays Call of Duty purely for the campaign and skips multiplayer and zombies, I found Call of Duty: Vanguard to be a mixed bag. Here’s my take:

The campaign is good, with a strong focus on character-driven storytelling. Each character has a unique backstory that’s engaging and gives the game some depth. However, the story lacks realism. While the narrative is intense, the missions often feel like you’re a team of "super-soldiers" or "Power Rangers" dropped into Nazi-occupied Europe, which breaks the immersion for a game set in World War II. A more grounded, historically accurate approach could have made the experience much more impactful.

The gameplay is fast-paced, which might appeal to some players, but I didn’t enjoy it. It felt too arcade-like for a World War II setting. However, I’ll admit the action is intense and keeps you on edge.

If you're looking for a pure World War II experience, this game might fall short due to its exaggerated elements. But if you enjoy strong character arcs and don’t mind the fast pacing, it’s worth checking out. That said, I’d only recommend buying this game on sale to get your money’s worth.

If you're like me and play COD for the campaign alone, this game has its moments, but it won’t fully satisfy your desire for an authentic World War II experience.
