Totally different game to the Dungeon of the Endless

doesn't mean it's bad, just different, comparing to the Dungeon of the Endless
- a lot more casual gameplay
- a lot more action orientated (your short term planning matters more)
- larger audience (newer graphics, etc)
- one of best OST i've seen for a while

Here's the thing I don't like
- poor character balance
- fewer unique characters
- fewer weapon choice (bunker is the only viable melee character)
- character design is 10 times worse

We had characters like Gork, a simple Brute ranged DPS, an enormous, powerful man with a violent temper and an angry face wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of sunglasses

More stuff I hate about the character design that I don't like if the devs are reading

For these reasons, the character design is probably the only thing that keeps me away from investing into this game, I won't ever get any skins DLCs because I can't invest into these characters

Stop with the woke character design please, from the few players that actually care about the game and the franchise

Although I'll get the OST DLCs because they're amazing

I would say this is a esoteric (overhead) dungeon crawler/explorer with Tower Defense elements.
Reason: there is more emphasis on the player character which gains levels and items but can place down some turrets. The turret types rely on a paper-rock-scissors concept where you need to match the right turret with corresponding monster. However, you cannot just plop down 50 turrets and sit back in a chair and wait it out. Pick and choose where you may need more help to stop the mobs, but need to rely mainly on the character/player. If you place down enough turrets to completely stop all mobs on a spawner, then there will not be enough materials to make anything at the next spawner. So perhaps resource management in a limited way as well.

Going through the dungeon runs gives currency to upgrade the "base" in various ways. This currency allows permanent buffs to the character/equipment for the next run or unlocks features at the "base".

Guns are gained randomly through the runs, but gone afterwards. Character gains levels through the run, but gone afterwards. Some base items and lore can be found inside the runs that you bring back to the base.

Up to 3 characters (and players) can join in a single run.
