It is a nice-looking game and, obviously, the price is right. However, the balance just isn't right, making many of the game's mechanics pointless or just straight-up newb traps.
- The 2x price on one crop is just far too strong. If you get that on a crop whose hazards are not present in a given year, you spam it everywhere and make so much profit that the rest of the run is trivial. I would have put this at +20%, maybe +50% tops.
- A lot of upgrades are just incredibly power-hungry. Many upgrades require almost a full power plant to support. The free sustenance ones cost a plant and a half. That's 3 spaces, 80 coins + 30ish coins for the extra map tiles and it doesn't produce any income. Fertilizer has the same problem. It will take over a decade to be even close to competitive to just laying down a few extra crop beds. Most of these expensive upgrades only make sense if you hate clicking to replant.
- The weather is just too exploitable, especially on maps like the marsquake one. Chances are too good that the high-demand crop's threat will not show up in any given year, allowing you to put it in every field for obscene profits. It would make more sense to introduce additional threats and have them always present once introduced, so you have to invest in infrastructure.
