Eh. While I like rats and the game has really cool artwork, great sound design and a fun theme of a medieval world of rats, frogs and insects, I don't think it's actually THAT great of a videogame.
>The combat is pretty fun thanks to decent animations, satisfying sound effects and blood staining your little rat, its weapon and your enemies as you fight. Sadly, it's also a little bit dull doe to the fact that you encounter many enemies that just have a SINGLE attack they will use over, and over, and over again and they tend to be well telegraphed with long wind-up time. The attacks you have to parry have pretty long warnings and large parry windows too, so combat is just dodge/parry and then just spam your basic sword swings until the enemy dies. Which takes way too long with even basic enemies feeling too "spongy" and needing a bunch of sword cuts to take down.
>Level design isn't very exciting and just boils down to walking from one combat encounter to another.
>I don't know why this game is labeled as a "souls-like" when it doesn't really have any souls elements. There is no leveling, the equipment is basic and the checkpoints are exactly just that.
>I think I am ddging a bullet by dropping the game, as apparently it just becomes a bunch of walking to a place you've already been to to do some fight, then running back to complete a quest and pick up another that has you do the same ♥♥♥♥.
>Buggy. Not in a very game-breaking way (so far) but I encountered oddities such as two enemies "becoming one" and starting to behave in the same pattern while trying to occupy the same space and the audio of their single burrowing attack getting ♥♥♥♥♥ from playing twice at once, or an enemy that just shut down completedly and started slowly moving to the left while completedly ignoring me, the wall in its path or my sword slashing away at its back.
Needed more work.

Tails of Iron is a game with simple but ultimately satisfying combat, chunky and awkward platforming, and very persistently fascist vibes. The rat kingdom is the shining city on the hill, and the frogs are the stinky bloodthirsty savages who are just so jealous and so evil that they can't help but invade and start killing and stealing from our innocent heroes. The way it's treated is so weirdly casual and not even particularly interesting as a story; it's just a boring old showdown of Good Guy Culture vs Bad Guy Culture. Imagine somebody who likes using words like "tribal" and "exotic" to describe people, and you have a good idea of the narrative voice. It's unfortunate too, since the visual aesthetic is honestly lovely and rather stylish, but if you pay attention to it you start to notice how dang racist its coding is.

Also there's a lot of running back and forth, and as I have alluded to, it's not particularly fun to get around. There's nothing groundbreaking here, probably give it a pass.

Boring as hell.

We have reached the point that the only way devs can make their game hard or innovate, is by adding 3 different dodges with no i-frames.
Why I have a shield where 90% of the attacks have to be dodges? Why I have to use my sheild to parry instead of parrying with the weapon like a normal game? These are all excellent questions. To see how a 2D game can be designed to be challenging without being annoying and obtuse, see the likes of Blasphemous and Hollow Knight.

Boring and generic

Excellent jeu, par contre les waypoint to safe en animation prend beaucoup trop de temps, et ça serait super de voir le pourcentage ou le nombre exacte quand tu désire equiper ton gears/stuff/panoplies. Puisque en vrai juste regarde la jauge de couleur ne m'aide pas trop si on peu surpasser la limite cap d'une stat du genre celle de Defense/Weight.
L'idée est pas bete de differencer les items par couleur pour dire leur niveau de rarerty du gerne uncommon/commun/rare/epic/legendary/ultimate. Mais un peu difficile a savoir que tu peux uniquement avoir une stat de full resistance conre 4 ou 5 spieces/races: Frogs/Bugs/Mole/Lizard/Squirrel?.

J'apprécie beaucoup ce genre de systeme que meme si tu n'es pas proche d'une zone pour te remplir a nouveau ta potion de vie, tout ce que tu as faire est de le faire sur les mobs qeu tu as combattu.

Le falls damage est intéressant mais prend beaucoup d'importance en early game quand tu empreint un couloir/chemin vers les escaliser vers le bas.

Il y a deux zone qui m'a énorment fruster qui n'arrêtait pas de se reset meme si j'avais beau safe ma game: les couloir booquer par les roots plants/ Wood Wall et le chemin vers la mine avec cette stupid grue qui ne restais pas en place meme si tu enclenchait le levier de la grue de bois. Dude à chaque fois que je passait en dirations de la mine. je me suis dit c'est good une ou de fois que ^ca reset mais quand tout la compange se deroule la bas et que tu dois systénatique prende la tour pour aller al 'autre etages. Cette grue servait a rien. et quadn j,ai enfin eu le pano d'affichage pour se teleporter c'était l'enfer de se déplacer dans les sous-sol/cave sans le moyen de Teleporation.

Le design des weapon/gear etait super stylé et cool.

Le lore de la campagn est bien, mais je ne comorends pas la piece du balcon qui mène à la chambre du prince. La sale d'exposition/musuem des epouventaile est superbe. mais je me dit qu'elle ne devrait pas apparati au tout debut que j'avais beau me promener eperdument. c'est du waste of time quadn tu start la game car j'ai toujours la manie d'explorer tout les lieu avant de poursuivre la Main question.

Le narrateur du jeu est vraiment superbe 10/10. Il yu a une fois où j'ai vraiment crue que c'étai le frère qui a vait tout manigancer pour détroner son petit freère. jusque à casue que le narrateur le décrivait suspicieux au moment o;u les deux pourchassait les frogs dans les sous-sol et que tu devais retourner dans la ville sous-terraine des moles pour purchase le masque a filtre a poison.

En vrai, le système de Weigth des equipement n'est pas vraiment utile car tout ce que j'avais a faire en tout le temps c';tait de me désarmer pour courir plus vite quand j'étais jamasi en combat. sinon a quoi ça servait de toujours maintenir my weapon en main si j'avais aucun mobs était approtivement proche. par contre, j'ai remarquer que le Double-Dash te relentissait quand tu désirait courrir plus vite.

L'effect de poison n'étais pas ce j'aurais pensé en doamge over time. on voyait plutot l'effect de Shrading la resistance de sa barrier des Boss/Elite. En vrai, des que tu obtiens sois le Hammer de Thor ou soit tout le stufff du glatior Mole/frog le reste des items servait a rien a part etre stylés.

Le systeme du weapon a deux hand me semble moyent car je l'utilsait bcp plus souvent pour REdestroy les murs de lianes en mousse ou de wood. Ça aurait été super cool si vous aurier l'idée d'intergrer l'utilsation du bow/shotgun hors combat. d'ou du genre de tirer on target which you can,t reach on them.il y eu un moment, où j'ai vriament l'impression que le Shield allait enfin servir a faire du slide sur telle lieu mais NOPE.

le Kiosque du trade est vraiment géniale. Ça aurait intéresant qeu la machine a gambling soit opérationelle, celle qui se trouvais dans la zone des moles de l'arena.

J'ai adroer le gameplay du combat, mais par tres facile a ce fier en reaction du mob: RED pour Dodge/Dash et Yellow pour te permette a rispoter/parer l'attack. celle qui m'a faite plus Sh*t ce sont les mobs qui used the projectiles à distance. Even with your Shield you can,t reborn those attack ou même encaiser leur coups.
J'ai toujours adoré l'animation du final hit pour l'achever sauf qw'il y a eu un moment donné où il y avait plus qu'un mobs a fight et ça devenait plus inconvénient dans ce genre de situation car tu ne pouvait pas cancel this canimation to killo that target. les autres avaitent le temps de contester et de m'attaquer pendant que j'achevais l'un des leurs. ce qui était embêtant et en veine.

En conclusion, Ce jeu est Excellent et ne prend pas beaucoup de temps a jouer ou a s'éterniser. j,ai déjà hâlte de jouer au Tails of Iron 2.

This game is great!

The combat is weighty yet fluid with the ebb and flow of fights being challenging but not overwhelming. The bosses are all good with a lot of variety but i'd say few of them felt unfair to me at least. Graphics and Art Direction are top shelf to the point you can take a still shot of any point in the game and hang it in an art gallery and i'd be one of the best pieces. While pretty simple by souls like standards the Music is still great overall with many tracks doing a great job at setting the mood of an area or the pace of a fight. And finally the story presentation is simple and yet very very charming with the writing being at least engaging enough for me to be invested throughout my playthru.

Truly and Honestly i feel like Tails of Iron is a must play for those who enjoy a good challenge and love games with charm lovingly oozing out of every frame!

A really good game.

I rarely write reviews for games, but there are really many issues with them. The overall game is stiff, uncomfortable to play, and inconvenient. I strongly suspect that it was made by someone without gaming experience, or that the game has not been tested, and everything is terrible.

Honestly, I love the game and almost everything about it but oh god, doing Bloody Whiskers has to be one of the most painful things I have done in a game, it's so artificially hard to the point that it's not really challenging your skills but rather luck with the ganking, you can have 3 enemies on screen at the same time who tank 10+ hit from you, they kill you in 2-3 attacks, theres NO anti ganking system so if you get hit by one heavy it's gonna be followed up before you can even get up, and worst part? I-Frames DO NOT EXIST, the roll does not have I-Frames and you don't have I-Frames while being down on the ground from a heavy attack, so you can kiss goodbye to your hp bar as soon as you get sent to the floor ONCE because you are gonna get ganked, I seriously mean it that fights with multiple enemies are the worst part of this game, bosses in Bloody Whiskers are hard but just due to the fact that they are faster and hit harder, but mobs? THEY ARE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HELL, THEY WILL GANK YOU NO MATTER WHAT DUE TO THE LACK OF I-FRAMES, KILLING YOU IN JUST 3 HITS DUE TO THE ABSURD DAMAGE OUTPUT IN BLOODY WHISKERS AND MAKE YOU DO FIGHTS THAT CONTAIN UP TO 3 DIFFERENT WAVES OF ENEMIES AND IF YOU DIE JUST ONCE DURING ANY OF THEM, GOOD LUCK STARTING FROM THE FIRST WAVE, Bloody Whiskers just pisses me off due to how badly it was managed, if you are gonna make a game where you are constantly gonna get ganked atleast have the decency to put I-Frames while you get up, not having you take extra blows due to your character being down on the ground with you UNABLE to even move, I seriously like this game but man Bloody Whiskers just really wasn't fun to play through at all and unless you are going for all achievments like me I seriously don't recommend playing that hellish difficulty solely due to the ganking problems and some bosses having near undodgeable attacks due to the speed buff they have in this mode, you CANNOT roll past some of their attacks and just have to wish they don't use that attack on you otherwise half your hp is GONE, so unless you are a collectionist or a masochist please for the love of god do yourself a favour and don't do Bloody Whiskers, it's not worth it, I do recommend the game but just Bloody Whiskers in specific is managed terribly, that's about it, and I hope this can be fixed for the next game as ganking is a HUGE issue in this game
