I just don't think the style of gameplay works well enough with the roguelike gameplay - the odds feel too against you for the variety to make it fun.

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HATE PLANTS VS ZOMBIES

Absolutely love this game. Has all the theming of Binding of Isaac in a unique take on a match 4 game.

Negative:
Let me get the bad out of the way first. Yes, the game can be buggy at times, but not unplayable. Also, the game feels a bit short with a limited number of enemies; hoping the team returns to this game someday and it gets the Binding of Isaac treatment.

Positive:
To help with people struggling, this isn't about matching 4 tiles and you win. At its core, it's actually about intelligent resource management. Knowing what spells to cast when and how to extend your turn as long as possible. If you're being damaged, you're doing something wrong (or you have bad luck when building your deck)!

I also appreciate how each character forces you to approach the game wildly different. Tactics vary from straight up "Match 4" to "Use spells and only spells this whole run".

Lastly, the music/sound/design all feel right at home in the Isaac universe. Incredible work.

TLDR;
If you like strategy games, you'll love this. If not, it can feel unfair at times and be frustrating. Just stick with it and it'll grow on ya.
