Have you ever wanted to do some mining and crafting with one hand tied behind your back?

Lovely graphics, and runs decently on my laptop in potato mode. But, and I cannot stress this enough, there's no personal inventory. You can hold exactly one item at a time -- including all resources and crafted items, including all tools, including money, including your map, including your light source, and even including *quests* which take the form of a scroll. You can pickup/drop items with the e key, and use them with a mouseclick -- and the default mapping for controllers feels worse, imo.

Minor caveats: Some objects will fit inside buckets, and can be carried in them (after you painstakingly put them all into the bucket one at a time by hand), and the contents of buckets can be dumped out. You can also put even very large items into your giant two-wheeled cart, but you move very slow while dragging it and have the turn radius of a large boat. Thankfully, items in containers or your one single hand are immune to physics, so you don't have to worry about accidentally flinging them into space like in some VR games.

My early-game gameplay loop looks like this: Pick up your shovel, put four scoops of dirt into your bucket, drop your shovel, grab the bucket, dump the bucket into the pan, drop the bucket, grab the brush, brush the pan, drop the brush, grab the pan, dump the pan into the cart, drop the pan in the water, repeat. After around 10 times of this, you can either go sell raw ore, or process it if you have the tools to do so. And hope you dropped all of your items in the right positions so you can find them again later.

There seems to be automation later on, but you do not start with any.

There's some purely-decorative player customization, but it's very limited, with 3 male faces and 1 female. I would be absolutely Thrilled if they added the ability to make your character look one-armed -- or, an inventory hotbar. Or a starting backpack. Or if there was an inventory hotbar mod, which I don't think I see one of. Or a single off-hand equipment slot...

It doesn't seem like a very deep game, but it does look pleasant. The destructable and reconstructable terrain is interestingly done and seems pretty competent, the prices vary by day so there's some merchant-genre game systems in play, and a fishing system. If you find methodical repetition soothing, maybe this is a good game for that. It's priced a little higher than I personally would prefer, but I got it on sale and am pretty happy with that. I've run into a few minor bugs with being able to place furniture underground inside terrain, or the tutorial not explaining how to rotate furnishings (the r key), but nothing gamebreaking. There is an "unstuck" button in the pause screen, which I was amused to discover respawns you in a graveyard.

You probably know whether it sounds tempting or not, by this far into the review. Consider it if your stable of mining-and-crafting experiences is running low.
