It's a weird one 4 sure. The visual style looks cheap and patchy (frame drops too), but the gameplay has some unexpected depth. I personally still didn't like it. The challenge was either too easy or felt unfair, cause the RNG is pretty much the decisive factor for a successful run. The metaprogression gives you a lot of classes, but I didn't like the first 3 (haven't played further yet). It feels like a minimum effort project and could use an overhaul on style and better balanced gameplay. Also, there is no real reason for you to play as the "bad guys" ? The races aren't necessarily cooler and nothing really utilizes that aspect, so why design it like that?
I still think most people are probably gonna enjoy their ride with Monster Train.

I played this roguelite cards battler on various platforms, gamepass pc ,xbox and steam, and its a great game. Fun.
For me the progression of the game is really good, while you play more you unlock fun other stuff. The combinations are a blast, you can make over the top OP cards. I like the sounds when the train is totaly full and your cards all packed with buffs, the sound is not beautiful, but catching, and I like the raw sound of the abilities clashing into each other.
Its cool and easy to play some rounds, make comobs and have fun.
Game is fun and well made, for sure worth your time
