It's not even close to finished, it's obtuse; there's plenty of bugs and a tonne of the mechanics are straight up not implemented. Game could do with a lot of quality of life improvements too.

I can't wait for the next update to play more of this delicious jank. Already got my money's worth easily, and the developer(s?) is/are actively working on more. Definitely comes recommended from me.

A charming niche title. The kind of game you likely have an itch for, or don't.

Legends of Grimrock and Wizardry are probably some of the best reference points you could compare to - with grid-based tactical combat.

TL;DR. 8-9/10 for my taste, but I can definitely see it not being for everyone.

Mechanically - basically, a fantasy d20 system. You have races and classes, some races are better at some classes, naturally, some might take more work or have some trade-offs. Your stat-block defines the classes you can access, so if you intend to get crunchy with your build mechanics, you could mess a character up from the jump.

Balance - hard to entirely tell... but what's out is still fairly early game. Your standard 4-archetypes of RPGs make the building blocks of the classes - so far, everything falls either under or between 1-2: Caster, Melee, Stealth, Ranged. You mix and match together bits of that and you have your roster. Melee seems to be the most consistent early, which is pretty genre standard, BUT - spellcasting can get natural regen, so spell casting can eventually be less of a hot resource. If you NEEDED to, you can grind once you can make enough magic food to not need resources to grind... which is pretty early. Fairness? Feels on par for most d20 system games - in that 'even' balance isn't so much the goal as 'is everything doing what it's supposed to - as well as it's supposed to?'

A/V - it's not what I'm here for, and the images and video in the store are a fair representation of what's currently running in EA. That said. It's crunchy. It's old school. It's a small team, if not solo project. It's no uglier than some of it's inspiration point games.

Story - Currently, it's your standard fantasy fare - still too in the works to tell, but I frankly don't pay a ton of attention unless something really grabs me.

Looking forward to the game in general... tried to think of a few key points, but it's a neat title off to a good start!

I’ve been playing computer games since the 80s and this one sounded like the type of game I enjoy. Sadly it’s more tedious than fun. I’ve spent most of my time walking and camping. That is not fun or entertaining.
