we need more games like this. games that arent afraid to do things their own way, games that have things they want to say, games feel new and old and everything inbetween, games that feel unique in so many different parts of how they present themselves, games that love other games, games that love stories, games that make no sense, games that take advantage of the unique medium that is gaming, games that integrate what games do with what other mediums do, games that have just so much heart. we need more games like this.

you don't have to be good at rhythm games to enjoy it; just let autoplay run and make up your own lyrics (or shout the button presses like my friend in vc)

for the 100%ers out there beware:
once you beat the game, it does some club penguin creepypasta thing by basically deleting your save file where whenever you try to load it it says "USER is dead." so erm. be sure to try to get every achievement before you go to the final area (which is pretty obvious by the amount of warnings the game gives) because you wont be able to load up and backtrack

saw this game and knew it was for me--that this was it, baby, this is the GOAT

and there were plenty of moments where I DID love Starstruck--but in the end I can't quite STAY in love with it, and it's one I have a hard time imagining recommending to anyone over any of its inspirations (which I need not list out here; they get shouted out in plenty other reviews)

nevertheless, the developers should be proud
